Ibagué continues to position itself internationally as a Sports City, and this is demonstrated with the 2023 Artistic Skating World Championship that will be held from September 19 to 30.

This event organized by the Colombian Skating Federation has the support of the Ibagué mayor’s office, the Municipal Institute for Recreation and Sports, IMDRI, the government of Tolima, the Tolima Sports Institute, INDEPORTES Tolima, the Ministry of Sports and the Colombian Olympic Committee, and will have the participation of 1,300 athletes from 40 countries.

For this reason, José Acevedo, president of the Fedepatín, visited the venue again and was once again surprised by the fulfillment of the schedules in the works of the Coliseo Mayor in which the last adjustments for the world contest are already being carried out.

During the tour that the delegates of the national entity made together with the manager of IMDRI, Juan Sebastián Fonseca, the spots of competition, dressing rooms, entrances, lighting system, transmission sites, among other aspects, were evaluated.

“I found a venue in optimal conditions. It complies with all the guarantees, we have already finalized some details to specify the surface that will be used for the World Championship. The truth is that today it is fulfilling not only the city, but also the country with the completion of the work,” said Acevedo.

Likewise, the Colombian Skating Federation evaluated the hotel offer; For this reason, the visits to the places where the delegations would stay were continued and thus continue advancing with the organization of logistics and mobility within Ibagué.

It is noteworthy that the first delegations will be arriving at the Musical Capital at the end of August.

Similarly, the president of the Colombian Skating Federation confirmed that this Thursday, August 17, one month after the start of the artistic skating world championships, the official launch of the event will take place at the facilities of the Hotel Estelar in the city of Ibagué with the presence of the different administrative and sports authorities of Ibagué, Tolima and Colombia.
