The eighth day of the Artistic Skating World Championship Ibague – Tolima 2023, had on scene the senior category to make the short program of the Free modality, the same as in the previous, the junior developed a very technical competition, with other great figures on the scene and a lof of world Champions on the stage.
Regarding of senior ladies, 30 athletes from 18 countries, Egypt, Ecuador, Paraguay, Croatia, Andorra, Bolivia, Germany, Denmark, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Switzerland and Portugal presented themselves to the competition. 14 of the 15 first skaters of the 2022 World Championship were present at the Coliseo Mayor in Ibague.
The short program was the first round, left Italian Giada Luppi as leader, with 74.50, who was second place in 2022. The second place went to Carla Escrich, from Spain, with 70.14, bronze medalist in the previous world championship, leaving the third place to the current world champion, the Italian Rebecca Tarlazzi, who made rating of 60.46.
With respect to the mens, they rolled through the Ibaguereña floor 19 competitors who representing 11 national federations, the most select of international skating, because 14 of the participants to the WSG in Argentina 2022, are in Ibague – Tolima 2023, including all podium.
After the first competition, Spain put their skills in front of the starting positions, with Pau García (100,92), who is current world champion, Héctor Díez (94,19), and Kilian Gomis (86,64), followed by the Portuguese Diogo Craveiro (83,77) and Alessandro Liberatore (65,14), from Italy. Although Garcia has an important advantage, the long program will give the last word.
According to the schedule this Wednesday we will have the final round for the junior category, in ladies and men, who will have their long program to define the medals of the free skating. Competitions will start from 1:40pm for junior ladies from 11th position onwards; then we will have from 5:50pm to junior males from 11th position onwards.
The athletes who positioned in the TOP 10, initially in ladies, will present their program from 5:30pm, while the males of the TOP 10, will make their last departure from 7:10pm, to know the new world champions and deliver the respective medals.
Important to stand out that entrance of Coliseo Mayor is FREE then no need the ticket, neither for official training neither for competitions.
